Open Settings → Battery → Battery usage and view apps. Record whether the leading use matches your activity, without entering app account details.

Record recent setup, restoration or a system update. Optimization and update activity can temporarily change runtime; a single battery percentage is not a health measurement.

Review the app’s background-use setting. Keep Adaptive Battery and the recommended Optimized setting enabled; do not stop essential services.

Check the result

- Send Google the recurring usage pattern, recent-update context and whether heat or shutdown accompanied it.
Stop conditions
- Stop using and charging equipment with swelling, casing separation, smoke, a burning smell or suspected battery damage. Do not open or press on it.
- Set damaged accessories aside. Do not open mains adapters or force connectors.
- Do not erase, reset, flash firmware or bypass a lock as a default diagnostic step.
